How To Add Your Name to Your Images
Picture theft is one of the most common complaints on the eBay Discussion Boards. While there is no foolproof way to protect your images from theft, the best way to slow image thieves down is to add your name or a copyright symbol to your images.
With your cursor, draw a box where you want text to appear on the image.
Under Edit menu, select 'Add Text'
To add text to image box that appears:
Type your text in the box
Click the Choose Font button and select options desired: Font, style, size, strikeout, underline and font color are the options.
Click the OK button to return to the Add text box.
Ensure the 'Text is transparent' block is checked.
Click the OK button to add the text to your image.
If you don't like the results and want to try again, click 'Undo' and start over.
Once you are happy with the results go to File/Save As and save your new image.
MS Paint Instructions:
Using Windows --> go to Start --> Program Files --> Accessories --> Paint
To create a shortcut to Paint on your desktop, right click on the Paint icon --> select "send to desktop as a shortcut"
If your Paint program does not fill your screen, click on the middle box in the upper right hand corner of your screen (maximize the window).
Your images can be stored any where in your computer or on a disk.
Now click on EDIT --> Paste From
From the drop down window, make sure that the 'Files Of Type' is set to 'All Files'.
Then find the location where your images are stored.
Double Click on the image you want to open.
It will now be on your paint screen with a broken line around it.
Just click anywhere on the white screen and the line will disappear.
Click on the 'A' in the Menu on the left side of your screen.
Click the left button of your mouse, hold it down and draw a box where you want your text to appear on your image.
Then type your message. Note: It is against eBay's links policy to include your website address on your pics. It is considered a static link and disallowed by eBay.
Now go back to the Menu.
At the bottom of the Menu there are two color choices, one for text and one for background colors.
Use them to select the color of your Text and also to change the Background Color (you can also choose a clear background).
Go to File --> SAVE AS and you are done.
One more option: Watermark your images Watermarking your images gives your finished photos a much more professional look than simply adding a text message to your photo. Picture-Shark.com is a highly recommended program for this purpose. It is free to download and use for private parties (only $9.95 to register your copy) and has an excellent step-by-step guide that walks you through the process. Here are two examples of an image watermarked with Picture-Shark:
