Welcome to my Zoicks.Com Gallery Picture FAQs Page
Okay... so I lied. I don't know if these are Frequently Asked Questions or not, but here are some questions and answers none the less.
Q: Why aren't my Gallery Pictures displaying on the Search pages?
A: eBay puts a Gallery picture placeholder in your listing before the actual Gallery thumbnail is created.
The thumbnail is normally created before the item makes it onto the search and listings pages, however, the 'View Seller's Other Auctions' page shows items immediately after they are listed.
Occasionally, eBay gets behind on the Gallery images and it can take several hours before your Gallery picture will replace the 'Click here to see the picture' placeholder. There is often a lag time in the most popular categories, such as Collectibles.
When checking later to ensure your Gallery picture has made it to the search and listing pages, you may need to force a page refresh by either doing a Ctrl/Refresh or a Shift/Reload from the keyboard.
Q: What do I do if eBay notified me that there was a problem uploading my Gallery image?
A: You will need to fix your Gallery image if you received email notification from eBay that there was a problem saving your Gallery image. Go to the Change Your Item's Gallery Image page and resubmit your Gallery picture from there. It will not help to simply revise your auction and reload the Gallery image from the revision page.
Q: eBay can't save my AOL images to the Gallery. They work fine in my auction listing. What's wrong?
A: Check to ensure you uploaded your AOL images with proper file extensions (.jpg or .gif). Also check to ensure your URL is correct. AOL does not use a www in their addresses and eBay's server can't read the URLs if you added the www. Your AOL image URL should look like:
http://members.aol.com/UserName/Picture.jpg
Go to the Change Your Item's Gallery Image page and resubmit your Gallery picture from there once you've resolved the problem.
Q: What is the ideal Gallery Picture size?
A: eBay's Gallery Pictures are displayed at 64x64, 80x80, 96x96 and 140x140, depending on where eBay displays it, so if you submit any square image 140 x 140 or larger, it will fill the eBay Gallery Picture block (unless you are using eBay's Picture Service).
Q: Why is my Gallery Image so small?
A: When you use eBay's Picture Service, they take your image and resize it to fit their 400 x 300 pixel box. If the picture submitted wasn't in a 4:3 aspect ratio, eBay adds white filler bars to the image to make it fit. Then they take the image with the white filler bars and resize it again to fit a 96 x 96 pixel box. Since they have already made it fit a 4:3 aspect ratio, that means they have to add additional filler bars to now make the 4:3 picture fit a 1:1 aspect ratio box.

Q: How do I make my Gallery Picture fill the entire block?
A: You must submit a square picture 140 x 140 pixels or larger and it must be hosted with your ISP or an outside image host. You submit it to eBay on Page 3 of the Sell form:
