Need A Digital Camera Recommendation?

There are many great digital cameras to choose from in today's market in all price ranges.
This should help you to choose one.

One of the most popular digicams of eBay users currently seems to be the Fujifilm Finepix A205.

Here is a quote from CameraJim, one of the regular posters on the eBay Photos/HTML Discussion Board:

"For ebay use, you don't need a high resolution digital camera. Almost any digital camera will produce a 640x480 pixel image at its lowest resolution setting, which is a big enough photo to fill a standard VGA computer monitor, or about 2/3 of a 17" monitor. A 640x480 image is only equal to 1/3 of a megapixel.

If you also want to make prints of family photos or for other purposes, you'll want more resolution. As a rule of thumb, a 2 megapixel camera can make excellent 5x7 prints, you need 3 megapixels for the best 8x10 prints and 5 megapixels for an 11x14. The top pros currently shoot for magazine illustration purposes with 6 megapixel digital SLRs.

Getting back to an "ebay camera," you mostly want...

1) Good macro (close focus) capability. Limit your search to cameras that focus to within at least 6 inches and preferably 4 inches.

2) Ease of use. For some, this means an easy method of transferring the photos from your camera to your computer (e.g., the floppy-based Sony Mavica line). For me, it is more important that the controls be logical and that it's easy to access manual override functions.

3) Comfortable handling. Be sure to get a chance to handle a camera before buying it. All the best reviews in the world won't help if the camera feels awkward in your hands.

I've become a big fan of the Fujifilm Finepix line of cameras. For lowest cost, I'd recommend the Finepix A205, a 2mp camera that sells for less than $120 at WalMart. My daughter uses that model and gets great results with it. It focuses to within 4 inches.

As for myself, I use the Fujifilm S602. It's a discontinued model, but it has a few features the newer Fuji cameras lack. It's capable of amazing closeup performance, focusing down to 4/10 of an inch."
